Ninth grader Bhumika Prem is a legal immigrant who shares the story of her family’s long, arduous journey toward becoming permanent residents of the United States. She sheds light on the challenges “legal Dreamers” face because of the flawed legal immigration system. These are children who arrived in the U.S. at a young age and grew up American, but often have to wait their whole lives to have the same rights as kids born in the U.S. Bhumika urges everyone to learn more about this issue and speak up, so that legal Dreamers can live the lives they dream of without the uncertainty they face today.
