Jessica Bolker is a zoologist who studied fish embryology until she got distracted by philosophy. She has been a UNH faculty member since 1997, teaching developmental and evolutionary biology, scientific writing and communication, physics, marine ecology, and a seminar on Tom Stoppard’s play Arcadia. As Associate Director of the Shoals Marine Laboratory she helped launch engineering internships and an island production of The Tempest. She earned a B.S. from Yale and a Ph.D. from U.C. Berkeley, with a year at St. John’s College, Oxford in between.
