Michael Palace is an environmental scientist and professor of Earth Sciences at UNH who uses imagery from satellites and drones to better understand our planet. From field measurements of vegetation structure to satellite analysis, he studies the terrestrial carbon cycle, forest dynamics, and the hidden signatures of past human settlements written into the land. Using geospatial science and remote sensing, he maps and interprets the world — predicting disease outbreaks, tracking forest responses to drought and fire, and revealing patterns invisible to the naked eye.
